The International Research Network-IRN World Gender seeks to contribute to the understanding of how ideas and concepts concerning “gender” (and thus also feminism and sexuality) travel and combine, in and between several languages and cultures. The goal is to analyze how the notion of gender is understood in different social, political and cultural contexts, and how gender studies have developed in these diverse contexts. It is funded by the CNRS and by the Cellex Foundation in Barcelona.

Led by the LEGS (CNRS, Université Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis, Université Paris Nanterre), the IRN World Gender brings together the following institutional partners:
